This issue we visit with Lourdes Carvajal
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico from Spanish parents established there, I spent my academic life between Puerto Rico and Madrid, Spain. As my parents own a residence there, I have the opportunity to visit every year as Madrid is very much my second home (US considered the first).
I am one of two daughters of a Spanish Civil War refugee who started several textile manufacturing industries in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and my mother, a civil rights advocate.
